B. Sc Biotechnology involves an advanced study of the cellular and biomolecular processes for the development of a variety of technologies and products that contribute to improving people’s lives and health. The course familiarizes candidates with the usage of living organisms and bioprocesses in the field of medicine, technology, engineering, and other bioproducts. The program seeks to impart advanced lessons in the biological process meant for industrial and other purposes, especially the genetic manipulation of microorganisms for the production of a variety of medicines. Biotechnology is also used to genetically modify plants and improve their resistance to diseases and harmful microorganisms. In short, this will help improve agricultural productivity. Similarly, biotechnology is used to develop organic fertilizers. Biotechnology course material can be classified into two sections- the theory section and the practical section. In the theory section, students will have to deal with subjects related to biology as well as basic technology concepts. The practical section is also very important. Students will have to spend a good amount of time in the laboratory, performing practical lessons as well as lab training. The aspiring candidates need to have a scientific aptitude and keen interest in biological sciences and are ideally suited for the course. People who possess an analytical mind, have problem-solving skills, and proficiency with the use of computers are considered to be idle for this program.

If you want to pursue higher education after B.Sc Biotechnology, then you can go in for one may go for the Master’s course. M.Sc. course will take two years to complete. After completing my B.Sc. and M.Sc. Degrees, one may pursue a Ph.D. also.
