Bachelor of Technology – Mechanical Engineering

Pass with 50% (GEN)/ 45% (SC/ST) aggregate marks in 10+2 or equivalent (with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology) subject to valid score in JEE(Main)

B. Tech Mechanical Engineering is the branch of engineering that involves production, designing, and operations of machines. The objective of mechanical engineering is to prepare students for applying the principles of mechanical engineering for designing, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems. Mechanical engineering basically involves the study of core concepts of mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials science, structural analysis and electricity. Apart from that, there are some tools that are studied to enhance the skills of mechanical engineering. The course covers theoretical as well as practical knowledge. The main subjects areas are- Strength of Materials, Materials Science, Thermodynamics, IC Engines, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Automobile Engineering etc. Mechanical Engineers design materials, machines and other subsystems to perform an intended function. They broadly deal with the issues related to energy conversion, interfacing mechanical components with other subsystems, interfacing man and machine and the control of the different sub-system.

Career Prospects

The demand for mechanical engineers in the market is never satiated. Mechanical engineering graduates can find placements in almost every sector, right from the construction sector to the steel industry and from automobiles to software. Here is a list of some of the career paths that successful graduates can follow: -Auto research engineers -Architectural and Engineering Managers -Drafters -Heating and cooling system engineers -Mathematicians and Statisticians -Natural Science Managers -Nuclear Engineers -Petroleum Engineers -Material Engineers -Sales Engineers -Physicists and Astronomers -Robotic engineers Mechanical Engineering jobs are easily available in both the private and public sectors.
