Electrical Engineering is the branch of engineering that deals with the study and application of electricity, electromagnetism, and electronics. Electrical Engineering covers electrical machinery, potential hurdles in electricity generation, collection, and transmission, power control in factories, distribution of electrical energy, electric motors, their control, and transformers. The subfields include electronics, power engineering, digital computers, telecommunications, RF engineering, control systems, and signal processing. The focus of the course remains on designing and testing ICs, capacitors, inductors, and resistors. Aspirants are taught to design electronic circuits, electric wires, computer systems and also develop control systems. Electrical Engineers fix problems associated with systems such as electric power transmission and electrical machines. The curriculum also apparently includes fundamentals and principles of Math, Physics, Computer Science and Project Management.

The major recruiters of the M.Tech in Electrical Engineering graduates are the government sector, enterprises, and departments such as BHEL, BSNL, HAL, Indian Railways, State Wise Electricity Boards, Indian Armed Forces, DRDO, Hydroelectric Power plants, and Thermal Power plants. Whereas in the private sector, such postgraduates are hired in electrical goods manufacturing industries, telecommunications sector, the manufacturing sector, in industries involving production and manufacturing, and in the energy sector.
