Role of Communication in Good Governance stressed

Shimla: 20.04.2017. Public Relation Society of India (PRSI) Shimla Chapter in collaboration with School of Media & Mass Communication of AP Goyal Shimla University today organized a symposium on ‘Effective Communication for Good Governance’ on the eve of National Public Relation Day to mark the Day by the PRSI throughout the country. Dr. Ashwani Kumar Pro Chancellor AP Goyal Shimla University was the chief guest and Dr. Ashok Kumar Raghar, VC, AP Goyal Shimal University presided over the symposium. Dr. Pramod Sharma, Professor University Business School of HP University and Professor Vikas Dogra Chairman Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, HP University were the main speakers and deliberated thoroughly on the subject.

Dr. Ashwani Kumar Pro Chancellor of AGU emphasized the need of effective communication for good governance and said that bureaucracy and media should be responsive to the needs of the people which could go a long way in ensuring effective governance. He said that unless the programs and policies of any government or organization is communicated effectively good governance couldn’t be expected.

Public Relation Day at Shimla University

Dr. Ashok Kumar Raghav Vice Chancellor Shimla University said that it was essential that communication contents and those who govern they should have good attention to serve the people in the right perspective. He said that language also plays an important role in effective communication and communicators should see in which language he has to convey message to the general masses so that the message was understood in clear terms.

Dr. Pramod Sharma said that Indian democracy was one of the best forms of governance. He said that there had been a number of good communicators from the very beginning and cited the example of Mahatma Gandhi who spread his messages at a time when there were negligible mode of communication. He said today Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi has emerged the most effective communicators not in India but also in the world.

Dr. Vikas Dogra emphasized the importance of communication in good governance. He said that it was the only communication skills which help to take the message to the people to achieve the desired objectives of any organization.

Sri Ashok Sharma Chairman PRSI Shimla Chapter in his welcome address dwelt upon the importance of National Public Relation Day and also the activities of the PRSI. He thanked the AP Goyal Shimla University for its association in organizing the symposium.

Dr. Ramesh Chauhan, Head of School of Media & Mass Communication AGU said that the university would endeavor to organize such more activities in the university in near future. He also thanked the PRSI for organizing this symposium in the university campus.

Sri Ranveer Verma proposed the vote of thanks. The symposium was attended by the faculties of the university, students of journalism, management and law and also other PR practiceners of Shimla.
