AP Goyal Shimla University Brings the Hope for Effective University Education in India

Statistics may be overwhelming but that is the only way that the national scenario can be understood in terms of university education. If higher education is to succeed, it is necessary that school education is meaningful too, since that is where it all begins. The commercialization of education certainly interferes with the learning process and builds walls between social communities. It is understandable that as the population grows each year, the number of institutions would increase to accommodate the larger numbers.

In India in 2014, about 670 universities existed with 38,000 colleges! The teaching staff numbered about 817,000 and the enrolled students totaled 28,000,000. No country except China and America would have larger numbers of colleges or greater student populations!

AP Goyal Shimla University in the picturesque capital of Himachal Pradesh State is a young private university that occupies a pride of place in North India among the best universities. We need to look at certain research factors to understand why. If accreditations, awards and honors are concerned as the hallmarks, APGSU has accumulated several recognitions. The short record of internships and placements along with the standard of the curriculum, the quality of teaching and educational infrastructure on the campus is convincing enough that the university has a great future as a global hotspot for education in eight departments.

The eight APGSU schools for graduate, postgraduate education, certificates and diplomas too

Many universities in India and abroad concentrate on a single subject area like health or agriculture. It might be art or music too. Thus, the institution becomes specialized and concentrates on a single area that seems to be preferable. The best teachers too have qualified in a single discipline, be it sports or yoga. On the other hand, India is a vast country and requires institutions where multiple subjects are taught just like a teacher who can handle several subjects.

Architecture, Applied Sciences and Research, Engineering and Journalism are some departments at APGSU. The other subjects are Management, Fashion and Textiles, Law and Hospitality.

In recent times, commencing in 2013, foreign universities were allowed to establish independent campuses in India without local partners though they had to follow certain procedures. With this liberalization came many foreign students to study in Indian universities, but that was not a new phenomenon. Asian and African countries have traditionally sent students in search of higher education to Indian universities even earlier. In 2017, as many as 700 foreign students are enrolled in APGSU from 25 countries.

The major shortcomings of many Indian universities

Mass education may not bring the best quality and that is a common concern. Perhaps private institutions are the answer that provide better attention to each pupil who is not lost in a crowd of students but charge much higher fees. Yet, not all families can afford that. Elite education may be fine to ensure good standards, but is meant for a select few! When you consider the vast numbers of students who need education for a meaningful life, the need for quality public education becomes so very important.

  • Creativity and imagination need to be stressed rather than mere memory skills. Learning by heart is no understanding at all but learning by doing through projects would bring sustainable knowledge.
  • Qualifications alone cannot ensure the standard of teaching. Young graduates and postgraduates just out of college are given teaching positions, though they have no industry experience at all. The standard of teaching dwindles as a result. Most of them lack training and thus follow no strategy.
  • The quota system and political interference are other important weaknesses that have become barriers to education.
  • A large number of inferior moneymaking institutions and a fondness for the service industry are other factors that have maimed Indian education.

APGSU offers standardized curriculum-based training for professional success

The authorities at this prestigious university in Shimla, the Queen of the Hills, have luckily succeeded in putting together the right formula! Educational misuse and failure are rampant in Indian education, but APGSU follows an ethical policy and is dedicated to the noble cause of education. The students represent the future of the nation and the world and teaching is the mother of all professions. Fortune and luck graces educational institutions in different ways and APGSU has been blessed by fate and the hard work of the faculty and staff.

Particularly, foreign students would be charmed by the Himalayan campus amidst greenery and the blessings of nature in serenity. Serious study comes naturally in peaceful, non-polluted environments that are as picturesque as neat and clean. If happy students study well in pretty surroundings in the dream world of student life, we may look forward to successful careers.

Be convinced that APGSU offers just the right recipe for academic and professional success, being industry specific with excellent foreign exposure and a well-connected network of alumni who will show the way to the new graduates.
